Apologies Need to Be Made
Cake can make anyone happy, especially someone you may have wronged in the past and may need to apologize to. This cake decorator said that people would often order cakes with sorry written on them so they could apologize for whatever they had done.
Usually, this person really only made cakes that said ‘sorry for your loss’ or ‘sorry to hear you’re leaving,’ but when the customer made this request, the cake-maker was speechless. It makes us wonder what they did in the first place!
Check Your Spelling
Ordering cakes over the phone is such a hassle. You may have to repeat your ideal cake order several times over and still end up with the wrong design. Luckily, the internet has been a big help in allowing people to write down their specific cake orders without having to talk to anyone.
However, one big flaw with this can be autocorrect, which seems to be the problem in this specific example. Instead of the cake saying ‘sweety,’ it actually says ‘sweaty.’ We hope whoever is getting this cake isn’t too offended.
Trip to the Doctors
Going to the doctor’s can be a little bit nerve-wracking. Therefore, this person thought that it might be best to calm down the receipt of this cake’s nerves with this cake. The decorator had never been so confused when the request came in.
This person was going for their first colonoscopy, and if you’ve gotten one before, you’ll know how hungry you are after. This will definitely go down a treat, and may even lighten the mood a little bit after a particularly invasive procedure.
The Tiger King
At the beginning of lockdown in March 2020, Netflix kindly gifted viewers with a six-episode series called Tiger King, which followed the iconic lives of zoo owners Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin in their feud over the exotic cat zoo in Oklahoma.
People enjoyed the show so much that they started to create memes, merch, and even a campaign to get Joe Exotic out of prison. On this occasion, this person liked Tiger King so much that they got a cake with stripes and a photo of Exotic with a tiger.
Accidental Pink Eye
We’ve all probably had to apologize for something we did that hurt another person’s feelings, and some people will even go as far as ordering a cake just to convey how sorry they actually are. On this occasion, we think that this response was probably warranted.
This person rang up a cake decorator and simply asked that they wrote a message apologizing that they had given someone pink eye. We hope that the cake was a good peace offering!
Small Achievements
When you’re a parent, you want to celebrate all of the small things your child has learned to do. That might be their first time crawling, or their first time walking, or even their first day of school. These parents decided to celebrate their child’s first in a weird way.
This cake decorator shared that these parents wanted to celebrate their daughter’s first poop in a normal toilet. This might actually be a great way of training their daughter to use that toilet from now on. Way to go, Hazel!
Shower Buddy
We’re sure that when you’re a cake decorator, no two days are the same. One day, you might be doing normal cakes like birthdays, graduations, or congratulations. The next, you might be piping out something like this decorator had to do.
How else do you apologize to someone than getting them a cake? This decorator also managed to ease the blow of the apology by piping a beautiful red flower onto the cake too, alongside the message, “I’m sorry I threw up on you in the shower.”
Body Confidence
You don’t always need to have a big event or celebration to order a cake. As long as you have the sweet tooth and the money, you can make any day special with a cake order. This person decided to mark a small life event with a creative cake order.
They rang a cake decorator and asked for a cake that celebrated their upcoming breast reduction. The details were so precise that the tag says “breast wishes.” What a great way to celebrate!
Hated Co-Worker
If you ever thought that your co-workers hated you, know that they probably don’t hate you as much as this. This cake decorator said that they once received a phone call from some disgruntled employees looking to order a cake for their co-worker’s birthday.
They told the decorator they wanted the cake to read “Happy Birthday Jagoff! We all hate you,” with a panda on it. They were also told to put a habanero in the batter under the panda as they would pick that piece for themselves. Yikes.
Mother to Be
Some people want to go above and beyond with their cake orders. You might as well go all out! On this occasion, this mother-to-be reached out to this cake decorator so that they could request a cake that would prepare them for motherhood.
They asked for a Pregnant Belly Cake, however, it had to actively lactate. As it was for a friend, this cake decorator decided to take on the challenge, but this is probably the furthest they would ever go.
Leaving Gift
It’s always tough leaving your job, and even tougher leaving your favorite coworkers behind. While they probably know that you’re leaving to go on to bigger and better things, it still probably hurts that you’re leaving.
While cake decorators usually get nice requests, one decorator got a request from a bunch of former co-workers that said, “You’re dead to us.” Not the nicest message to leave with, but they hopefully know that it’s just a joke.
Double Jobbing
Whenever Mother’s Day or Father’s Day rolls around for people, it can be a bit upsetting, mostly if you have a single parent who basically does the job of both parents. This person found the perfect solution to solve that problem.
When Father’s Day was coming up, one person rang a cake decorator and asked if their cake could say, ‘Happy Father’s Day Mum.’ While it was an odd request they had gotten, plenty of other cake decorators online have gotten the same one.
Going Down
It isn’t odd to ask for a scene or character of your favorite movie or TV show to be on your cake. In fact, lots of people already do this. However, this cake decorator received a request for a totally random movie on a cake.
One customer rang up and asked if they could have the Titanic ship on their cake. Unless they were celebrating their first time watching the film, or were part of a Titanic museum or gallery, we have no idea why someone would order this.
Lockdown Memories
Another vivid memory that most people will remember about lockdown is the mad rush that people went on to stock up on all of their essential items. No matter how many grocery stores you went into, it was impossible to find a pack of toilet paper anywhere.
In order to commemorate this insane time, one person rang up a cake decorator and asked for a cake in the shape of a toilet roll, and for the branding to be put on the side for their birthday cake. It definitely is unique!
Mistaken Identity
This next story sparked a new tradition for this next family and all of their future birthday cakes. Collecting their cake for their daughter’s 12th birthday, the family discovered it was the wrong cake only after they had gotten home.
The cake they had received said ‘Happy Birthday, Bob’ but luckily, they found it hilarious. Now, every year, they order a cake that says ‘Happy Birthday, Bob’ for their daughter’s birthday. New staff members are probably confused when they first hear this story.
Farm to Table
Talk about farm to table! This next cake request was a bit of an odd one that took the decorator by surprise. They were asked if they could make a cake into the shape of a cow’s head and place it on a bed of edible hay.
The decorator did a great job with the cake order, but they never found out why the person ordered it. Was it because they were a farmer? Was it for a farming project? Or just a child who really liked cows?
There Isn’t Mush-Room
This next cake decoration might be a little controversial, especially for those who are avid mushroom haters. In a hilarious and classic parent prank, this father rang up and asked a bakery to help him pull off his hilarious joke.
As his son hated mushrooms, he rang up and asked that they put two fondant mushrooms on top of a cupcake so that he wouldn’t want to eat his dad’s cupcake. This a sure-fire way of making sure no one eats your stuff.
A Full House
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are arguably the world’s most famous twins, beginning their acting careers at only the age of nine months when they were cast in the sitcom Full House. They’ve managed to gain a lot of fans over their lengthy career.
However, they may have also gotten the attention of some older fans too. One cake decorator recounted the time where she was asked by a customer to make an 18th birthday cake for Mary Kate and Ashley for his own party that he was throwing. So weird!
Teen Mom
Finding out that you’re pregnant can be a very scary thing, especially if you’re young and haven’t quite decided what you want to do with your life yet. Plus, there seems to be a lot of criticism from different people over your choices and decisions.
To make the burden easier, this cake decorator was asked to celebrate this person’s teen pregnancy rather than making it into something that should be shunned or mocked. We hope that this made this big life step a lot easier, and easier to digest — literally.
Stuck Inside
Cake decorators often talk about how weird their cake requests are, especially when it comes to baby showers. In an attempt to stray from the traditional sheet cake, people are deciding to make their cakes memorable by sending some weird requests.
This cake decorator told Reddit of the time she was asked to make a cake for a baby shower. She thought nothing of it, until she read the instructions where it said that they wanted the baby to look like it was stuck in the cake. Wow.
Bring Home the Gold
The 2020 Olympics finally look like they are going to go ahead after being delayed by COVID-19, meaning that lots of people will once again be heading out onto the streets to celebrate the best athletes their country has.
Some people are so excited for the Olympics, that they’ll even host parties or gatherings to watch certain events. This decorator was asked to put the Olympic rings on a cake, but instead of the rings, they wanted the words ‘Olympic Rings’ written out.
Feeling Apologetic
Cakes can be a good way of saying sorry for something you really messed up. It isn’t uncommon for bakeries and stores like Carvel and Dairy Queen to get several requests like this every day.
However, one decorator remarked that their favorite request was when someone asked their cake to say, “Please forgive me, she didn’t mean anything.” This doesn’t feel like a matter that a cake can solve, but we hope it steered them towards the right track.
No Sugar
It feels almost cruel making a cake like this for someone who has diabetes. Due to high sugar levels, often those with diabetes can’t eat anything with a lot of sugar in it — including a cake. This next request really was the icing on the cake.
While it wasn’t a decorator who shared this story, it was actually the person who ordered the cake. They wanted their cake to display a strong message so got one saying “By 2030, 50% of Americans will have type II diabetes.” Something to think about.
Wishful Thinking
You should never hope that someone fails at something, but if it’s one of your favorite coworkers deciding to leave you for another job, then sometimes it is justified. This person got a cake that summarizes how every coworker feels when one of them gets a new job.
Instead of writing “Best Wishes” or “Good Luck,” they wanted to let them know “We hope you fail” and “You’re dead to us.” We hope the person who got this cake understood the joke behind it, otherwise, that might be a bit awkward.
Tons of Allergies
Some people just know how to make the best of every situation and how to find humor in everything. Upon hearing about their friend’s medical issues, one person rang up a decorator and gave them a hilarious request.
The friend asked for a huge cake with the message “So Sorry to Hear About Your Flour and Gluten and Milk and Egg and Butter and Sugar and Food Coloring Allergies” on top. This was so savage, we hope the friend found the funny side to it all.
Getting it Out
If you’re going to say something harsh, you may as well lighten the mood with some cake. This decorator was tasked with the responsibility of getting someone’s hatred down on the cake. The simplistic design really makes the message pop.
We often wonder what leads someone to decide that they’re going to immortalize their hatred for someone on a cake. What was the terrible thing that they have done which decided this was the last straw? We guess we’ll never really know.
Crazy Cat Lady
We all know a crazy cat lady, and we all know how far they would go to show off their cats. This crazy cat lady rang up her local cake decoration shop to ask for one of the weirdest requests that we have ever heard of.
She wanted her cake to have a cat that was mid-birth, with towels and blood surrounding the cat too. The decorator said that she was speechless to which the lady replied, “I’ll send you a video of my cat giving birth for reference.” Gross!
Cake for Nerds
People often want to try and get creative with their cake designs, and this next one is certainly no exception. Hoping to invent a new style of cake, this design is definitely one that the computer science majors and coders would appreciate.
This cake design saw the decorator put together a bunch of cake elements and then type it out as though it was being coded. This is definitely a cool and unique way of decorating cakes, but it might not be for everyone!
Taking Things Literally
Every now and again, anyone who works in hospitality or retail will encounter a rude customer who can be a real downer on your day. It’s very rare that you’ll ever have the occasion to get back at them.
This decorator got to pull off the ultimate revenge. A rude customer requested that they get “Nothing” on their cake, and that’s exactly what they got — a giant NOTHING written in brown icing across their cake. We hope they’ll think twice next time before being so rude.
Eating Your Brains
People will normally ask for cakes that are a little spooky around Halloween time, however, you would expect something so horrifying for a child’s birthday cake. This decorator was a little confused when the following request came through.
This customer asked for a decaying zombie who was breaking out of the ground to be included in their cake design, but worst of all, it was for their child’s sixth birthday. We can’t think of any child who wouldn’t find this absolutely terrifying!
Disney Crossover
It’s weird to think that Star Wars is owned by Disney, meaning that it probably isn’t unreasonable to think that in an alternative universe, there is a franchise where Chewbacca wears a perfect princess dress. Well, it doesn’t have to exist in an alternative universe.
Requested by a girl who loved princesses and Chewbacca from Star Wars, this decorator had a job on their hands trying to pull together the perfect cake. We think that she did a fabulous job, and it’ll definitely be a birthday to remember.
Misheard Instructions
This cake seems to be a huge mess, and it doesn’t seem as though it is at the fault of the decorator. Online ordering has made it easier for people to fill out complicated orders without having to ring someone up, but it is still not a perfect system.
This person clearly wanted the icing to be in green and for it to simply say “Happy Birthday Rosie,” but instead got this mess. Even the words ‘Birthday’ and ‘Underneath’ are spelled wrong. We hope this was all intentional!
Big News
Cakes can be a great way of sharing big news like a pregnancy, or a new job. However, this feels too big to simply be shared on a cake. A Redditor shared how their strangest request was putting the phrase, “Surprise! You’re Adopted” on the cake in question.
Hopefully, this won’t be big, life-changing news for the person receiving this delicious treat. Otherwise, it’s a crazy way to tell someone that is often incredibly awkward to phrase.
Wet Blankets
Even though the term is mainly associated with children who sometimes can’t hold it in during the night, there are times where adults have also peed the bed. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, sometimes people just can’t hold it in.
Someone on Reddit shared the fact that the strangest request they had gotten was from someone who had peed the bed and was getting a cake to apologize to their partner. This will probably help while you clean the sheets.
Long Live the King
Hands up if you have been personally victimized by the traumatic events that happened in The Lion King! Well, this customer clearly wasn’t, so much so, that she wanted to have the event commemorated on her birthday cake.
This three-year-old wanted Mufasa’s death to be the prime subject of her third birthday cake as she said that it was so sad that other people wouldn’t want to eat the cake because they would be so upset. She is really playing checkers.
A Kid’s Request
It’s hard to ignore a kid’s request on their birthday, no matter how insane or delusional it is. For this four-year-old’s birthday, they wanted a photo from the label of Fantasy Factory brew on the front, and that’s exactly what this decorator did.
The original cat was carrying a weapon, but that was easily removed and replaced with a more child-appropriate birthday banner. Of all the birthday requests from young kids, this has to go down as one of the weirdest.
Hulk Smash
Another classic cake where the monster is put into a princess dress. This time around, this decorator was asked to place The Incredible Hulk into something that won’t rip as he grows into his ginormous size — a ballgown dress.
Although this decorator thought it was weird at first, they were more than happy to make this little girl’s dream come true. It was one of two cakes made for twin girls, so we’re very interested to see what the other twin had requested.
The Chase Is On
British readers will find this next request hilarious. In the UK, there is a television game show called The Chase, where contestants go head to head with brainiacs called ‘The Chasers’ in order to win thousands of pounds.
Looking closely at the cake, you can see that it’s been made for Squish for their second birthday. While the two-year-old probably can’t answer any questions, it’s undoubtedly funny to think of The Chase as their favorite television show. Squish may even be part of the next generation of Chasers.
Dear Mr. President
No, this image isn’t from a 2020 US Election celebration party. It’s actually hilariously made for a young boy called Mason, when asked what he wanted on his birthday cake he responded with ‘Joe Biden’ — can’t say no to that!
The decorator in question wasn’t sure how to put Joe Biden on their cake, so instead, they created a number of cupcake toppers that could be placed around the cake for people to enjoy. An unusual choice, but something for the scrapbook!
Take Us to Your Leader
Welcome to 2013, when Doctor Who made up one-third of the internet’s newest obsession, Superwholock, an amalgamation of the shows Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Supernatural. It was inevitable someone was going to incorporate it into their own celebrations.
This decorator was given the task of incorporating a Dalek into this cute birthday cake design. To make it match the pink theme, they stuck on a tutu and matching bow. It definitely makes this Dalek look less threatening.
Roll With It
Taking to Reddit to share their weirdest request, one Reddit user told the site that the strangest one they had even gotten had to be this one. This cake shows a roll of toilet roll with the phrase ‘Holy C***! You’re Old!” for someone’s 50th birthday.
Surprisingly, this isn’t a unique cake design as there are hundreds of different examples all over the internet. Why do people feel the need to incorporate some of the most disgusting bodily functions onto their cake decorations and designs?
So Long, Farewell
In most places, eviction notices need to be given in writing at least 30 days before. This person decided to get a little creative with the way they issued their eviction notice to their tenants — by getting them a sheet cake.
While it certainly is an unusual tactic to give someone bad news, at least there are positives. The person living there can celebrate leaving behind their life with some delicious sheet cake their landlord was kind enough to get them.
Broken Up
Breakups can be really tough, especially if it was a long-term relationship. It can often take months for people to process what has happened and get back to normal. Thankfully, one person stepped in to make this terrible experience a little bit sweeter.
One decorator had stated their shock at getting a request from someone for a “Congratulations on your breakup” cake, instead of one saying that they were sorry to hear. It definitely makes binge-eating and watching sad movies a bit easier.
Nyan Cat Party
This decorator went above and beyond to make this gorgeous, but weird cat for a seven-year-old’s birthday party. After watching Nyan Cat on YouTube, this little girl asked her mom if the bakery could make her a cake that looked just like Nyan Cat.
After a little confusion over the strange request, this bakery used a real Pop Tart to make the body of this Nyan Cat, as well as fondant to make the rainbows that shoot off his behind as he flies. Goose deserves the very best seventh birthday party for this!
